well….my junking life has been completely boring and uneventful the last several days, so i’ve been reluctant to post…..that and a sick child, not enough rest and too many cub scout obligations. lately, i don’t think there is enough coffee to keep me awake. i’ve been so tired and i ache. what gives?????
anyway, the canton flea marts are this weekend i have been in awe of the canton, texas photos popping up on the blogs. just blown away….please go to my blog roll and click on VINTAGE GARDEN ANTIQUES. theresa has such a great blog and lots of photos from her trip to canton. her blog updates on her sidebar are also filled with lots of texas bloggers that went to canton as well. texas is a junker’s mecca….really. my friends bonnie and nancy took off this weekend to canton as well. bonnie gave me all these doll shoes shown above because she said i’d make something crazy with them. i love them and think i will just put them in a jar. maybe i will start a plastic shoe doll collection. what the hell. it will give visitors one more thing to ponder when they come to my house and it will be one more obscure collection to clutter my house.
bonnie actually gave me all of these things to ‘DO’ something with. thanks bonnie!!! i’m all over it. maybe i will make a big corsage and wear it to my next formal function.
the girls are looking for lace bits for me this weekend…also buttons, vintage fabric scraps, small junk jewels and anything else little and old that i can cram into another craft drawer in my house. i hope they hit paydirt along the way to canton and find some goodies. i can hardly wait to see what they get!! i will try to take photos of the booth, crafters corner goodies and some of bonnie and nancy’s finds.
i managed to purchase the platter above on friday. the small purple flowers are so adorable on it. i found doilies, linens, 3 pairs of gloves (25 cents each!), a vintage sewing book, pink satin ribbon, robin’s blue tablecloth, a pink gingham apron, and some okay things from goodwill all on friday. i went to the booth with bins of things to drop off and came home with more than i left with. i know i can’t be the only one that does this!
you know…you leave with stuff and then come home with stuff you pull out of the booth???? insane.
i found this cute vintage hat shown above at g.w. bins. i think it was 75 cents. the mill flower is smooshed, but i have a trick for unsmooshing (is that a word?) flowers……..
TAKE MILL FLOWERS THAT ARE SMOOSHED
BOIL WATER IN PAN (ADD DROPS OF ROSE WATER, OILS, FRAGRANCE IF YOU LIKE).
HOLD FLOWER OVER TOP OF STEAM FROM BOILED WATER UNTIL FLOWER OPENS UP AND BECOMES FLUFFY AGAIN!! that’s it. simple.
i found these gloves for 25 cents. i love the little tag in the shape of a glove. says made in england on the back. very sweet.
i like this book cover. little flowers….pink, blue, peach and brown. very sweet. it’s a vintage sewing book…
here is a project that went to the booth. i found a stool for a couple of bucks….very ugly… i covered it with a teastained slip bottom, an old dress, lace, doilies and rhinestones. it’s a great way to hide an ugly stool.
also found the rhinestone necklace around this statue’s neck for $7 at walmart. i just adore it!!!
okay…cubs was long today…i’m tired out. zoey is asleep, and now it’s my turn. i’m falling asleep as is type.
congrats to your canton shoppers for all your deals found and good times!!!
